Born in Romania, Eugene Mihaesco left at the age of 30 and moved to the United States where he designed more than 70 covers for The New Yorker between 1972 and 1992. He was exhibited at the Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He has often used his talent to draw for peace and against all forms of violence. On this cover of 25 December 1988, he links the drawing to the stars, with an inkwell bathed in constellations of stars, from the great bear to the little one.
